Terms of Service
1. Agreement
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Along — our iOS app, website at getalong.fun, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). By creating an account, downloading the app, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What Along is
Along helps adults make platonic friendships through shared, real-world activities. Users post or discover “plans” — concrete outings with a time and place — apply to join, chat after acceptance, and meet in person. Along is not a dating app, matchmaking service, or general-purpose social network.
At launch, the Service is focused on the United Arab Emirates. Availability may expand or change over time.
3. Eligibility
You may use Along only if you:
- Are at least 18 years old
- Can form a binding contract under applicable law
- Are not barred from using the Service under applicable law
- Will use the Service for lawful, platonic friendship purposes only
We may ask you to verify your age or identity and may suspend or terminate accounts we reasonably believe do not meet these requirements.
4. Your account
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your credentials secure.
- Email verification and a complete profile are required before you can post or apply to plans.
- You may register with email and password and/or Sign in with Apple, where available.
- You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Safety & privacy in the app.
Notify us immediately at hello@getalong.fun if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
5. Plans, applications, and hosting
- Anyone with a complete profile may apply to an active plan, subject to host restrictions shown on the plan.
- Only the plan creator (host) may accept or reject applications.
- Hosts choose who joins. Applicants may not re-apply to the same plan after rejection.
- Plans must include truthful details — title, time, location, cost level, and other fields shown in the app.
- Hosts must not use plans for dating solicitation, commercial spam, illegal activity, or harassment.
- After the first participant is accepted, hosts may be restricted from editing certain plan details, as described in the app.
- Hosts and participants must honour reasonable expectations around attendance, communication, and cancellation.
6. Chat and conduct
When using Along, you agree not to:
- Use the Service for dating, romance, escorting, or sexual solicitation
- Harass, threaten, abuse, discriminate against, or endanger others
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation or intentions
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent plans or applications
- Share content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise harmful
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or interfere with the Service or its security
- Collect or misuse other users’ personal information
- Spam, advertise unrelated products, or recruit for multi-level marketing or similar schemes
- Circumvent blocks, reports, or enforcement actions
Messaging is intended to coordinate accepted plans. Do not use Along to send unsolicited messages to strangers outside the product’s normal flows.
7. Real-world meetups
Along facilitates introductions and coordination, but we do not supervise in-person meetings. You are solely responsible for your conduct and safety when meeting other users offline.
- Meet in public places when possible, especially for first meetings.
- Tell someone you trust where you are going and when you expect to return.
- Trust your instincts. You may leave any meetup at any time.
- Report concerning behaviour in the app and contact local authorities in an emergency.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Along is not responsible for the actions of users online or offline, including injury, loss, theft, or disputes arising from meetups.
8. Content you provide
You retain ownership of content you submit (photos, plan text, messages, and similar material). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute that content only as needed to operate, improve, and promote the Service — for example showing your plan in discovery or your first name and photo to other participants.
You represent that you have the rights to content you upload and that it does not violate these Terms or anyone else’s rights.
9. Our content and intellectual property
The Service, including the Along name, logo, design, software, and documentation, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited rights expressly granted in these Terms, we reserve all rights. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the Service without our written permission.
10. Safety, reports, and enforcement
We provide tools to report users and plans and to block other users. We may investigate reports and take action we deem appropriate, including warnings, content removal, suspension, or permanent termination. We are not obligated to monitor all content or activity and do not guarantee that every report will result in action.
We may cooperate with law enforcement or regulators where required or where we believe it is necessary to protect users or the public.
11. Third-party services
The Service may link to or integrate with third-party services such as maps, venue search, Apple Sign In, and the App Store. Your use of those services is governed by their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.
12. Service changes and availability
We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. We may suspend or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, with or without notice.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, create risk for other users or for Along, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and governing law.
14. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS, THAT MEETUPS WILL RESULT IN FRIENDSHIPS, OR THAT OTHER USERS WILL BEHAVE AS EXPECTED.
15. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ALONG AND ITS OPERATORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY MEETUP WITH OTHER USERS.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD 100). ALONG IS CURRENTLY FREE TO USE, SO THIS LIMIT WILL OFTEN BE USD 100.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
16. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Along and its operators from claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your content, your meetups with other users, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Arab Emirates, unless mandatory consumer protection law in your country requires otherwise.
Before filing a formal claim, please contact us at hello@getalong.fun and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue informally.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised Terms on this page and update the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
19. General
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Along regarding the Service.
- If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later.
- You may not assign your account or these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights and obligations as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
