How Along works
Along is built around plans - concrete outings with a time, place, and activity - not endless profile browsing. The path from curiosity to a real meetup is deliberate: discover, apply or host, chat after acceptance, then meet and follow up. Along is a platonic friendship app for adults 18+ across the UAE. It is not dating, not work networking, and not a generic social feed. The unit of value is the plan itself.
1. Discover plans
Open Discover and browse activities in your city: coffee and tea, food, walks, sport and fitness, games, culture, drinks, sightseeing, creative hobbies, and more. Use the list or the map. Filter by date, category, cost, and indoor or outdoor. You can browse without an account. Set a home city at profile setup; switch your active browsing city when traveling. Along covers Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah. If Discover is empty in your city, that is not a dead end, it is an invitation to host.
2. Apply or host
Like a plan? Apply with a short note. The host reviews applicants and chooses who joins - typically a small group, not an open crowd. Prefer to lead? Post your own plan with clear details so people know what they are signing up for: activity, venue, time, and expectations. Posting and applying require a verified account and complete profile. Empty city? Create the first plan - supply unlocks demand. Along does not use a waitlist gate for empty Discover. Hosts stay in control of acceptance; applicants who are not selected are not left in an open chat with strangers.
3. Chat after acceptance
Messaging opens once you are accepted (hosts can message pending applicants during review). That means no random stranger inbox spam - you coordinate with people already tied to the same outing. Shared threads stay contextual. Plan group chat can open for larger accepted groups when the product flow allows. The design goal is coordination with context, not open-ended messaging between people who have not committed to meeting.
4. Meet and follow up
Show up for the activity. Afterward, confirm you met and leave a rating when it unlocks. Ratings are tied to real meetups rather than anonymous scores. Report and block tools are available if something feels off. Details live on trust & safety. Along remains platonic by design through the whole loop - friendship through shared activities, not romance framed as hanging out.

Yes. Guest browse of plans, cities, and categories is allowed. Creating a plan or applying requires a verified account and complete profile.
When does chat open?

What if my city has no plans?
Create the first plan. Along covers eight UAE cities and treats empty Discover as a host opportunity - not a waitlist gate.
